woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing.&nbsp;<sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>She said to Elijah, \u201cWhat do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin&nbsp;and kill my son?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>19&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cGive me your son,\u201d Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed.&nbsp;<sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he cried&nbsp;out to the&nbsp;Lord, \u201cLord&nbsp;my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>Then he stretched&nbsp;himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the&nbsp;Lord, \u201cLord&nbsp;my God, let this boy\u2019s life return to him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>The&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;heard Elijah\u2019s cry, and the boy\u2019s life returned to him, and he lived.&nbsp;<sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother&nbsp;and said, \u201cLook, your son is alive!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>Then the woman said to Elijah, \u201cNow I know&nbsp;that you are a man of God&nbsp;and that the word of the&nbsp;Lord&nbsp;from your mouth is the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Notes from the ESV Reformation Study Bible:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1Kgs%2017:21\">17:21<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>he stretched himself upon the child three times.<\/strong>&nbsp;Elijah performs a symbolic action together with his prophetic prayer (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1Kgs%2011:30\">11:30<\/a>&nbsp;note).
